1. Who we are

Signscouter is an app that lets users photograph and share signs and plaques found in public places. The app is operated as an independent project. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at privacy@signscouter.com.

2. What data we collect

When you use Signscouter, we collect the following:

• Email address — used to create and manage your account
• Display name — chosen by you, shown alongside plaques you log
• Photos — images of signs and plaques you upload
• Location data — GPS coordinates captured at the time of logging a plaque, to pin it on the map

We do not collect any data in the background. Location is only accessed when you actively log a plaque.

3. How we use your data

• To provide and operate the Signscouter service
• To display your display name as attribution for plaques you log
• To pin plaques at the correct location on the map

We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.

4. Data storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides our database, authentication, and file storage. Supabase stores data in the EU by default.

5. Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account directly within the app (Profile → Delete account).

When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile and login credentials. Plaques you have logged remain on the map but are anonymised — your display name is removed and they can no longer be linked to you.

6. Cookies

The Signscouter mobile app does not use cookies. This website may use essential cookies for basic functionality only.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the app. Continued use of Signscouter after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
